Have a Switch 2 and seeing dark spots or circles on the screen when the device is rendering a black screen? It’s a fault, and needs to be replaced by Nintendo.
I noticed this with my new Switch 2, loading up Tomb Raider Collection, there’s a black screen on booting up the game where this discolouration or ‘spot’ effect is noticeable. The Nintendo UK support website mentions that dots/spots on a screen is normal, but it is not, at least not these kind of spots.
I created a repair request with Nintendo through it’s UK website, and shipped my Switch 2 to them via UPS (free of charge). Nintendo replaced the device with a new one, which I received back in under 10 working days.
Yes it’s not the worst problem in the world because it only shows itself when viewing dark screens, but if you’re having the same issue, it’s still worth getting a replacement device.

Dan, what happened with the replacement? I’ve had two with both showing those dots at boot. Not sure whether I can be bothered to try and get a third one.

Replacement seems fine so far, it seems like pot luck though. I’ve read some cases on reddit where people have had multiple replacements before they got one that didn’t have the issue.
I’m on my third from John Lewis and still showing, seems I’m only going to fix it by going direct to nintendo for a replacement.
